Over 200 years old, The Fountain Inn is located in the delightful village of Parkend at the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean.  Parkend was once a centre for the mining and smelting of iron ore, and the Fountain Inn was built to serve the local mining population. When the Great Western Railway arrived in the village in 1858, the Inn was extended to provide refreshment and accommodation for the passengers. 

Today the Fountain Inn is proud of its tradition of warm hospitality and excellent service.

Relax and enjoy a drink in the comfortable, cosy bar with it's open fire or choose from the extensive menu of traditional country fayre, offering such dishes as Lamb Shank in Redcurrant and Rosemary and Gloucester Sausage in Onion Gravy.

All eight guest rooms are decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard, with private bathrooms and tea/coffee making facilities. Two ground floor rooms are specially adapted for the less able bodied.

Our four poster bedroom provides a level of comfort equal to that of many high grade hotels.

The Fountain Inn's garden allows guests to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Forest.  

The Function Room seats up to 20 people and is ideal for meetings, private functions and social events. 

Parkend is an ideal location for touring the Royal Forest of Dean, one of England's few remaining ancient forests. Once a hunting ground for Kings, it is now enjoyed for its natural beauty, peace and tranquillity.  Activities available locally include tennis, golf, fishing, canoeing, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding.
