The Old Thatched Cottage Hotel and Restaurant is situated at the heart of the historic and
picturesque village of Dunchurch, just three miles from Rugby in the county of
Warwickshire. The centre of the village has been designated a conservation area, and
contains many fine period buildings, including The Old Smithy, still standing on Rugby
Road, which is believed to have been the subject of Longfellows poem,
'Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree'.
Dunchurch is
also famous for its' role in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when conspirators awaited
news of Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up Parliament at the Red Lion Inn, now known as Guy
Fawkes House.
Dunchurch is located at the heart of the
Midlands motorway network, close to the M1, M6, M45 and M40. Birmingham
International Airport is within easy driving distance, as is the National Exhibition
Centre, and trains run regularly from Rugby station to London and Birmingham.
