The New Inn, situated a few miles away from Settle, is an 18th
century coaching inn that has been lovingly and carefully
restored to offer quality accommodation. Set in the magnificent
Yorkshire Dales National Park, this hotel offers high standards

many places such as the Lake District, Leeds and Lancaster, or

can be seen a collection of caving cartoons by Jim Eyre, one of

The Duke of Wellington is an ivy-clad
traditional eighteenth century inn located in Danby, near Whitby.
The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the Moors, Whitby and the
coast. Built in 1732, the Inn was used as a recruiting post during
the Napoleonic Wars. An iron plaque of the Duke of Wellington was
recently uncovered on the outside of the building and has been
mounted on the fireplace in the bar. Restoration and refurbishment
has improved the facilities whilst maintaining
the
character and charm of this traditional country inn.

The
General Tarleton Inn was originally built as a coaching inn towards
the end of the 18th century and was named after the “butcher
general” who fought in the American War of Independence, probably by
one of the men who fought alongside him. The General Tarleton has
been extensively and sympathetically renovated and extended and is
now regarded as one of Yorkshire’s best country inns. We have
recently been awarded 5* guest accommodation status
by
the AA and Visit Britain.
