A beautiful 700 year old former coaching inn, The Wellington at Welwyn is steeped in history and even had the diariest Samuel Peeps stay here in the 1600's! Restored and renovated in 2010, six unique bedrooms were added to the Wellington’s award winning food and service.
Food
The food at the Wellington is what we are all about!
We are fiercely proud of the fresh food we serve. All our food is created and cooked on the premises, and we use regional suppliers, whenever we can, to obtain the best raw materials.
We don't believe in doing fussy and complicated things with these delicious ingredients, but instead would rather they were complimented, treated with love and brought to the table just as they should be.
The fish and vegetarian dish of the day depends on our fishmonger's and grocer's good fortune and of course the talents of our kitchen team! So keep an eye on the fireplace as these dishes can sometimes change in the middle of service! Download the menu here
Accommodation
Each one of the bedrooms is different with its own unique character and décor. With their cedar pine floors, antique furniture, oak beams and open fireplaces, the bedrooms provide all the luxuries of contemporary living as well.
Plate glass, crisp bed linen, hand-sprung mattresses, feather-down duvets, deep free standing baths or monsoon showers are as standard.
