Prested, whose site is mentioned in the Doomsday Book, is a fine, part-moated Hall, 15th Century in origin, set in its own 80 acres of park and woodland - an oasis of tranquillity - on the outskirts of the village of Feering, 9 miles south of Colchester.

Whether you are coming to the area on business, or need a pampering break, we'll look after you and make you feel at home. During club members' opening times visitors can make free use of our pool & sauna,  the gym (subject to the manager's assessment and agreement for health & safety reasons), and the tennis courts. 

Accommodation. We have 10 en-suite bedrooms, and we've been given Four Diamonds by both the RAC and the English Tourism Council. 

Our nightly B&B room rates are from £ 115 standard double or twin and £ 65 single to include a choice of a full cooked or Continental breakfast. Generous last-minute discounts are available!   Two extra-splendid rooms are £ 135 double and one has a child's bed for £20 extra (if used). All rooms have en-suite facilities; some with baths, some with showers, some with both.

The rooms can be booked individually or by a group - but only mid-week as all week-ends are taken by wedding parties. 

The full cooked English Breakfast is normally served in the conservatory. Dinner is available but must be booked in advance (by lunch-time please) and ordered from the menu. As most of our mid-week guests come on their own and would - we are told - enjoy a bit of company, we presume they will want to eat at one big table together and this is what we'll provide. If you'd rather eat alone and/or are there for an intimate tête-à-tête please ask and we'll gladly seat you in a corner. A buffet supper is  always available on Tuesdays up at the club (but again please warn them if you can) and some nights we will in fact invite hotel guests to eat at the club where the menus is a little cheaper.

Weddings and Functions. Prested is the perfect venue for a wedding, a house party, a family celebration, or a corporate function. We are licensed for civil marriages.

In the grounds of Prested Hall we have built a Real Tennis Centre, featuring the only pair of courts to have been built in the 20th Century (and the first in Essex since the days of Henry VIII). These courts were opened in 1999 and already enjoy considerable local and inter-national following. We also have three Astro lawn tennis courts.

Our gym has recently been extended with more machines  acquired to fill the gaps. It's all modern high quality equipment - 11 resistance and 14  CV machines together with a good selection of "free weights". We also hold classes, mostly free to members, plus we offer pilates, yoga etc etc.

How to find us. We are situated midway between Colchester and Chelmsford, with direct access off the A12 southbound slip road into Kelvedon & Feering. From the south proceed through Kelvedon, and after Feering, we're well sign-posted, veering off to the right just before the road re-joins the bi-pass.  Stansted Airport is not far away and we can have you collected by our local taxi company.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the premises.
